When a groom intends to get married, the groom has the right to meet the girl in the presence of a third person.

When a groom intends to get married, the groom has the right to meet the girl in the presence of a third person. They can have a conversation. It is permissible for the man to see the girls face. But it is not permissible to meet in privacy and to have conversations through texting, phone calls or other means.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged men considering marriage to a particular woman to get a look at her. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said in another hadith:

“If one of you proposes to a woman and if he is able to look at of her that which motivates him to marry her, let him do so.” [Abu Dawud]

Mehr is the right of the wife and Shariah has accepted this right. In case of Mehr not defined or stipulated, Mehr e Misal will be paid.

Mehr is the right of the wife and Shariah has accepted this right. In case of Mehr not defined or stipulated, Mehr e Misal will be paid. In Quran Allah says:

{وَآتُوا النِّسَاءَ صَدُقَاتِهِنَّ نِحْلَةً} [النساء: 4]

[And give the women (on marriage) their Mahr as a free gift]

Mehr e Misal

Mehr e Misal is determined by comparing with women who belong to the family of the bride’s father and these women should be similar or equal to the bride in terms of youth, beauty, virginity, wealth, education, religion and intelligence

Mehr e Musamma

Mehr which is determined by a groom is called Mehr e Musamma.

According to Sharia, Mehr could be paid completely or partially at the time of marriage and postponed with mutual understanding.

Mehr can be in the form of cash or goods or both. If the wife withdraws her right of Mehr, the husband can utilize it as mentioned in following verse of Quran:

{فَإِنْ طِبْنَ لَكُمْ عَنْ شَيْءٍ مِنْهُ نَفْسًا فَكُلُوهُ هَنِيئًا مَرِيئًا} [النساء: 4]

[But if they of their own good pleasure remit any part of it to you take it and enjoy it with right good cheer.]

Minimum amount of Mehr must be equal to 10 Dirhams which is equal to 30.830 gm silver while there is no limitation of maximum amount, however Shariah prefers to be determined it according to the financial position of the groom.

Islam has put much emphasis on Nikah. Allah stated in the Holy Quran that one of the basic need of Man is to have a spouse.

Islam has put much emphasis on Nikah. Allah stated in the Holy Quran that one of the basic need of Man is to have a spouse.

“And among His signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves that you may dwell in tranquillity with them and He has put love and mercy between your hearts: verily in that are signs for those who reflect.” (Surah Al Rum 30:21)

Spouses complement each other as Allah stated it so beautifully:

“They are your garments and you are their garments” (Surah Al Baqarah 2:187)

Rasulullah Sallallhu Alyhe Wa Sallam clearly stated: “there is no celibacy in Islam’.

It is a practice of our Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alyhi Wasallam who He said that the person who ignores my practice he is not of me.

النِّكَاحُ مِنْ سُنَّتِي فَمَنْ لَمْ يَعْمَلْ بِسُنَّتِي فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي

[Marriage is my way; he who does not follow my way does not belong to me]

Nikkah is an important part of Islamic life. It completes faith. Obscenity and shamelessness could be controlled easily by means of Nikah, that is why being occupied in Nikah is rather good than being engaged in Nafli Ibadat according to Sharia. It is also the source to increase Muslims in this world.

Its commands vary in different situations: sometimes it is Mandatory , sometimes it is Sunnat e Muakkidah ( Important) and sometimes it is Forbidden.

Mandatory ( Wajib ): When a man believes if he does not get married he will involve himself in sin.

Important (Sunnat e Muakkida) : In normal/usual circumstances.

Forbidden ( Haram):: When he believes to treat his wife with cruelty and injustice.
