Islamic Marriages Prevent Falling in Love With The Wrong Person

What is marriage? It means the joining together of man and woman in a relationship that involves living together till the end of time. It is a union that involves living with only one person for the rest of your life and that is why that person is called your better half. The half that completes you. And that is just one person.

The beauty of marriage is exceptional and glaring. Marriages in Islam are even more so. Allah has said in the Quran “The believers, men and women, are protectors of one another” (9:71) about marriages in Islam. Marriage in Islam is not just a union of two human beings as explained above. Marriage in Islam is about loving, caring, nurturing, understanding and sacrificing for that one person who shares your life.  Marriage in islam is falling in love with that person and holding their hand towards Jannah. Those who understand this also understand the logic of how a pure Islamic marriage can prevent you from falling in love with the wrong person.

There is a saying:

If a man is not your husband, do not share your heart with him. And if you are single, do not share your heart with a married man.

The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said in a tradition that whoever among us can afford to should get married, and those who cannot should fast as fasting helps a person remain celibate. This helps a person not to touch adultery. And finally it helps a person falling in love with a person who is already married to someone else. Allah Subhanwatallah hence has given us this way out. He has asked us to get married so that we can stop ourselves from going towards the wrong path. He has asked us to love one person for the rest of our lives. He has even made divorce halal so that we do not cheat on our spouses. Indeed He is the One who can and will stop us from wrong doing, InshAllah.
