Religious devotions by the Muslim Couple

Islam is a religion which encourages prayers in congregation. And these congregation prayers are ofcourse not only restricted to the prayers in mosques but also among families. Muslim families praying together have much importance and makes Allah happy. When families pray together, Allah looks down at the family with mercy. And when a husband and a wife pray together, Allah looks at them with an intention to make them enter paradise together. The Holy Quran says:

“And for men and women who engage much in Allah’s remembrance. For them has Allah prepared forgiveness and a great reward.” ( Quran 33:35)

When a husband a wife pray together, they are spiritually connected to Allah. This brings greater love, compassion and the spirit of sacrifice within them as they appreciate each other’s good points and shortcomings through the power of the remembrance of Allah. They pray to Allah to make them good human beings and to live with each other in harmony, peace, love, understanding and patience. They accept that life is tough as well as easy and they vow to live through it together and ask Allah to give them the strength to do so. This is why praying for the muslim wife and husband together has so much importance.

When the man and the woman get married in Islam, on the wedding night too, they should pray together. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said that “If one of you marries a woman, he should take her by her forelock, mention Allah’s Name and supplicate for blessing by saying, ‘O Allah, I ask you for her good and the good of what You have dispositioned her toward and I seek refuge (in You) from her evil and the evil You have dispositioned her toward.’

During the course of their married life, too, they should continue praying for their togetherness. It is reported by Imam Abu Da’ud that Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) said, “Whoever wakes up during the night and also awakens his wife and then both of them pray together two rak’ah prayer, their names will be written among ‘those men and women who remembered Allah most’ (referring to surah al-Ahzab 33:35).”

So it is beneficial to remember Allah in prayer and ultimately enter paradise together.
